For the Wicked

For The Wicked

Nick Stewart originally wrote these lyrics in the late 1980s while he was the singer for the Washington, D. C. Gothadelia band, Fear of Man. They were inspired by the 1979 printing of the book, The Spiral Dance, by Starhawk and of course, the obvious title reference. On moving to St. Thomas, Nick found a 20th anniversary edition of the book and there is a good chance we will here more of The Absolution’s music inspired by this lady’s insightful writings.

For The Wicked

The plunging knife, the lustful shout,
The birth of man, the birth of doubt
The dying flower, in the garden
Wake me up, in the morning

CHORUS
For the wicked, there is no rest
In my bed, I love you best.

For the wicked, there is no rest
In my bed, I love you, love you.

Three windows, the falling moon,
I break into your room
A prophet born with a message,
I come into your passage.

CHORUS
For the wicked, there is no rest
In my bed, I love you best.

For the wicked, there is no rest
In my bed, I love you, love you.

Cast the circle, raise the power,
Intone your spirit, feel the shower,
The spiral dance, the dance of life,
The sacred trance, the sacred knife.

CHORUS
For the wicked, there is no rest
In my bed, I love you best.

For the wicked, there is no rest
In my bed, I love you, love you.
